课程简介:

初级宏观经济学是一门理论结合实践的基础性课程,其主要内容包括国民经济核算、国民收入、经济增长与周期性波动、货币与金融体系简介、总供给与总需求分析、货币政策与财政政策及其效力、开放经济体系等。其中的难点在于总供给和总需求模型分析,经济增长与波动,货币与金融体系。学生需要在熟练掌握模型推导的基础上,结合实际案例使用模型进行分析与计算。

 

课程目标:

1、能进行经济增长的驱动力分析

2、认识到经济波动的复杂因素

3、掌握宏观经济政策工具在封闭型经济体与开放型经济体中的应用

4、认识到理论与模型的局限性

5、能将理论与模型运用于实践

 

考核方式:

闭卷考试(60%),平时作业与小组讨论(30%),出勤(10%)

Introduction to Macroeconomics

Credits: 3 credits

Pre-Requisite: The Principle of Economics; Introduction to Microeconomics


Module Description:

The Introduction of Macroeconomics is an overview course on macroeconomics which consists of core concepts, fundamental theories, rudimental models as well as their application. The key points of this course include: measuring the economy, growth and production, monetary system and financial institutions, aggregate demand and supply, monetary and fiscal policies and their impacts on the economy, and open-economy policies.

The most difficult areas are in the monetary system part and aggregate demand and supply models.  These areas are fundamental to the understanding of macro-economy and the policies.  Students will be given opportunities to derive the models and practice them. Delivery methods will be lectures, small group tutorials, case study and group presentation. No laboratory or actual work experience is required for this course.  Students will be required to conduct case studies based on information from news media.

 

Learning Outcome and Objectives:

By the end of the module students should be able to:

1.Understand the driving force for economic growth

2.Understand the reasons behind economic fluctuations

3.Know the science for macro policy tools both in a closed economy and an open economy

4.Know the puzzles remaining unsolved.

5.Apply the macroeconomics models to practical use.

 

Methods of Summative Assessment:

Exercises 15%, Projects, Attendance 10%, Final Exam 60%.
