2019年5月14日下午3点，伯明翰大学医学与牙医科学学部授课型研究生课程主管Alex Conner博士和伯明翰大学中国区总监郑颖颐到访，暨伯学院书记李琼、综合管理办公室主任方玲、院长助理吴祖剑老师和外事秘书李思佳接待了来宾。
李琼首先欢迎Alex博士的到访，并简要介绍了暨伯学院的办学情况。郑颖颐和Alex分享了当日上午与暨南大学洽谈医学硕士联合培养的情况，对两校医学项目合作前景表示乐观。Alex介绍了医药行业对跨学科复合背景人才需求大且供不应求的情况，指出生物信息学、健康经济学与计量经济学、健康研究方法专业就业广泛，可为暨伯学生提供继续升学的选择。
随后，双方就伯大硕士项目申请、奖学金、就读学生情况、实习就业等内容展开交流，双方一致同意未来在更多方向开展广泛的合作。
Visit by Dr. Alex Conner from University of Birmingham at J-BJI
On 14th May 2019, 3 pm, Alex Conner, academic lead for post-graduate taught education at UoB Institute of Clinical Sciences and Vivian Zheng, UoB China director of operations came to Jinan University and University of Birmingham Joint Institute (J-BJI), where they were received by Li Qiong, chair of J-BJI, Fang Ling, director of general affairs office, Dr. Wu Zujian, assistant to dean and Li Sijia, international affairs secretary.
Chair Li Qiong first welcomed their visit and briefly introduced the basics and progress of J-BJI. Director Vivian and Dr. Alex shared the results of their meeting with JNU this morning on cooperation at medicine master programs and expressed their optimistic view towards bilateral cooperation. Dr. Alex stated that in the pharmaceutical and medical industry, the demand for cross-disciplinary talents is large while the supply is short. Students who study Bioinformatics, Health Economics and Econometrics and Health Research Methods will have many job opportunities and these programs are favorable for J-BJI students.
Later, the two parties discussed issues on the application of UoB programs, scholarships, current students, internships and agreed to extend wider and deeper cooperation in the future.
