学业分析大会

2018年3月16日下午，暨南大学伯明翰大学联合学院召开了2017-2018学年第一学期学业分析大会。会议通过学生在第一学期各门课程的平时成绩、期末成绩和总评成绩等数据，分析了暨伯学院2017级新生第一学期的学习表现。

      通过数据可以看出，大部分学生在新学期入学后迅速适应了大学的学习生活环境和全英文的教学形式。学院的学风端正、学习气氛浓郁，同学们普遍反映第一学期的经历为今后的学习打下了良好的基础。同时，通过数据分析也可以发现，少数同学在新环境的学习中遇到了困难。为此，暨伯学院有针对性地安排了个人学业辅导，以及面向全院学生的“英语诊断”和EAP（英语学术论文写作）课程。会后，学生代表和同学们踊跃发言，就学习环境、学习方式和学习中遇到的困难等问题与老师们讨论。

      此次学业分析大会由暨伯学院吴祖剑老师主持。尹静老师、赵凯老师、王怡君老师及伯明翰大学广州中心李慧老师参加了会议并与学生们积极互动。

 The First Workshop on Analysis of Students’ Academic Performance

During the First Semester

The First Workshop on Analysis of Students’ Academic Performance during the first semester of 2017-2018 was held at Jinan University-University of Birmingham Joint Institute (J-BJI) on March 16th.

     The statistics on students’ performance, final grades and overall grades for each course had been analyzed in order to evaluate the academic performance of the first student cohort. To be specific, every student has passed all of the examinations. And all students have a good performance on general courses and basic courses. Their grades on professional courses present a normal distribution and the excellent rate is above 40%. These figures were presented to the workshop. Then students interacted with the program administration team during the meeting.

      Results of the research show that most students have adapted well to university life and study in JNU and have become accustomed to the English-Medium-Instruction (EMI) environment. Most  students considered the first semester to have been rich in academic content, and had laid a good foundation for their future study. However, a small number of students had difficulties adapting to this new way of learning. For this reason, JBJI has seminars, personal tutorial hours, an English Language Clinic, and EAP courses for all students.

      After the meeting, student representatives and other student had intense discussion with admin staff about learning environment, learning methods and study difficulties.
